electric augers?

Does anyone have a Jiffy electric auger? How do you like it? I know a couple of guys with electric strikemaster lazers but am looking at options.

Not really interested in any of the lesser known brands.

Check out the Ion. Its made by the same company as Eskimo.

Also take a look at the Ice Gator. It's a touch heavier than the ION, but will cut faster and you'll get more holes out of a charge with the Lithium battery pack.

Since buying my 'Gator, I haven't used the gas auger head for going on 3 seasons now. I love it!

I bought the jiffy electric last winter with a 10" auger for my ice permanent houses and could only get 2-1/2 hole in 24" of ice using the attached battery pack! Had to hard wire a set of jumper cables to it and use a deep cycle battery for power. Can get about 20 holes on a charge now. I took the attached battery off also to save weight.

Helped test the Ion auger last winter and we got 30 , 8" holes on one battery charge through 26" of ice and it was still going! Only weights about 26# with battery and cuts great!

Bought one last week and plan to retire my Nils now!

I think I'll like my new propane but anyone looking for light, forget it, this is one heavy beast.

yes they are heavy but try caring a full size battery and auger to dig holes for a tip up only after digging 8 holes for the house,i think the weight difference is okay for me : )

Dewey, I have a friend with the 8 inch and he loves it, says he drill as many holes as he needs and then some with no problems. I bet a 10 inch takes too much torque and does in the battery. A 10 inch drill is is tough on a gas auger also.
