What do you eat when you are ice fishing?

Depends on how the fish are biting... in the portable it's nice to bring a candy bar and something to drink. I found that in the big house last winter when we made burritos in the oven I felt really spoiled. Can't wait to try my first pizza on the ice...if we get any this year... oh and microwave popcorn after a day of poor fishing while watching the news makes a person feel a little better when sulking...hahahaha

In the wheelhouse, just about anything, lot's of things in the crockpot. I even did a cranberry orange turkey breast, mashed potatoes, salad for my favorite guys up at Portavilla 2 years ago. It was delish...... On the ice it is usually sandwiches, soda, not too many don't want to be running too much. Being a diabetic I have to make sure I eat properly or I am in trouble so candy, cookies, twinkies etc are out. I will sometimes bring along fruit cups or a trail mix I make up at home out of Kashi Go Lean, raisins, craisins, sunflower seeds, cashews, and sometimes treat myself by adding some white chocolate chips to it. I do like the grate idea for the Mr Buddy and I am eager to try it out.

I have a gas range/oven in my skid house, and I bring a gas or charcoal grill along for outside on the ice. My birthday is in February, so I usually do up something nice. Most weekends we do oven baked Jimmy Deans or other breakfast sandwiches. Lunch is crackers, salami, cheese, wine, whatever. Dinners are great! Oven baked pizza, or lasagna, or good old frozen dinners. But the best are grilled outside: baked potato, steaks, fillets, ribs, lobster tails, yummm! Inside the house we have salad, wine and champagne. Oh my! Been known to have some Jack, Maker's Mark, etc, etc, also.

Depends on the trip I guess. By myself....A can of soup over the heater cooker is awesome. All day with a friend or two or three and it's grill time. Last year on a two day trip to Mille Lacs we had Lobster tails and Venison Loins. Yum..
