Ice Show Product Question

I have been at the show in years past, but always have an idea what I want/need when I go and have tunnel vision to get it. I am looking at purchasing a new house this year... Otter Cottage or Cabin. Do they typically run any specials at the show for the houses/accessories? Any input would be great!

Sold the Frabill 7080 on the List by Craig, need something I can handle better by myself, lifting/pulling wise.

Every store is different. You will have to check to see who is offering what. The best deals I have ever heard came from those willing to chance that by Sunday afternoon there was someone who had a put together shack left that didn't want to load it back up and take it back to their store. Then you can sweep in and get a deal. And it's already assembled. Other than that, it's basically up to each store and I don't think anyone can undercut too much.

I was shopping for a couple of high dollar items (flasher, auger, shelter) at the show last year and it seemed to me the prices were the best I had seen. I don't recall specifically on any of them, and I wouldn't bank on huge discounts, but I had done a fair amount of research prior, and the show prices were all better.

The downside to waiting for the show was the availability, and in fact, by the time I had decided on a shelter, they were sold out and I ended up purchasing elsewhere for retail price AND paying for shipping.

Hey even if I can save myself 10 or 15 bucks off of retail, I'd take it. 10 or 15 that can go towards getting into the show or some other random gear. Thanks for the input!

You should be able to save at least 10%, and more if you work it. Go to Reed's, ask them the show price on the model you want, then go to Thorne Bros, Marine General, etc and do the same. Ask for a cash discount. Then ask if they'll through in a cover or whatever.

If you wait til sunday, you can get better discounts, but run the risk that the one you want is sold out.

This doesn't really apply to buying a fish house, but I bought a Vexilar FL-22 Ultra pack and a Jiffy propane ice auger this year. The Vex is a refurbished one and the auger was a demo. They are basically brand new. I saved $200 vs. buying brand new and I have the same warranty as buying new. To me the cost savings out weighed the stigma of brand new in the box. There are deals to be found out there! Good luck!

I bought an Otter lodge there last year. I picked it up right at the Otter semi-truck. I think Otter brings a truck down and every dealer there that sells one sends their customer to the same spot. You can just compare prices and pick the best one. It looked like every major player in the ice fishing market did it the same way.

No matter what you buy at the show shop the retailers against each other. Come see me at the Otter booth and I will get you set up and you can take a catalog to the retailers and buy what you need from one of them, bring back your reciept and we will load you up at our semi that we bring down every year. I have seen some very good prices on Otters at the show.
