Anybody trapping wolves this winter?

Recommended Posts

Please trap deer area 240. The billboarders should be happy about the season or I'll speak for myself my dozen uncles and everyone in our deer party will take matters into our own hands. These deer feed so many of us throughout the winter and children, yes kids also. Just a guess but I think the moose had no chance to recover with triple the amount of wolves brings triple the moose losses, front page of my local paper has grouse hunter/dogs attacked by T-wolf last weeks paper, the time is now to thin them back some by legal means. My neighbors now have to waste time guarding the calving season and I'm talking central MN not up north per se. I have no clue what is shakin up north, I'm talking south of US HWY 10 is where this action is going on, is the farmland zone now wolf range or what is what ? Plus drill the coyotes every chance you get.

Hey KPhunter will talk to my many uncles and get their wolf report. Gosh actually you should use a plat book and make some calls around the HWY 106 and 143 landowners, between Deer Creek and SW of Bluffton that's primarily where the wolves are located and they'd likely give you a steer if not permission. MuskyBrian18 I think it was, was asking about wolves making it to Long Prairie, well I don't know if you got the outdoor news last night but they're east of Parkers Prairie for sure so they are on their way. My neighbor where I live in EC Minnesota had 2 wolves by her bird bath this morning, where they live that's pretty brave, she may be a few cats short which would be a good thing.

Hey Fox, Tell your buddy congrats. Sometime it's tough to keep those footholds working in the snow. Any info on the set?? Dirt hole, scent post, baited area? Lures used? Dog pee, wolf pee, coyote pee, predator call? A buddy of mine has baits out with lots of snares. Any info is appreciated. One less deer eater around!

Very nice and very brave, our neighbor last year had 1 in a trap, he was walking up to it and decided to shoot from 100 yards as something didn't feel right, the 102 pound male had 2 toes in the trap. That's an awesome hair raising picture for sure very cool. Neighbor guy said the whole area around the trapped one was ripped up from other wolves etc.

The set was a blind set with footholds, no bait. I shot one and boy did they fill up fast towards the end of the season. There are plenty of wolves and even the DNR guy that registered mine was a tad surprised where I got mine, and agreed with me that there are a few more wolves than they think there are.
