I see Can Am has released a new SXS directed strictly at the sport market. Rumor has it this new beast is called the Maverick and as far as horsepower numbers, well....101 hp.

I also read an article that BRP has applied for a patent for an updated CVT system. Although it's first intended use (possibly) is for snowmobiles, I can see it making it's way into the ATV market as well.

The new system will be using 2 reservoirs for hyd. fluid with passage between the two controlled electronically and pumped through the crank to the primary clutch. No more spooling up the rpms and claimed to offer improved fuel economy.

IMO the motorsports industry is going to get real interesting in the next 5-10 years.
