merkman
I just picked up a compact reel on a popular on-line auction site to handle my decoy line. It is less that 2 inches tall, has built in line drag and it is even black. I am pretty happy with it, we will see how it holds up this winter. you can google GLA0/1 1+1 BB Ball Bearing Super Light Cmpact Black Fly Fishing Reel 40mm to find it. jasonmichalski
I have two fly reels like that and never thought of it. I like to use Yo-Yo reels, you can set them and if the decoy gets hit it come up to the top of the holre fish in all, and let the fish take line if its big. MJ1657
I just use those cheap aluminum reels with a thumbscrew on them. I might have to upgrade to some of those nicer ones like you guys are using though.
chad austin
if the decoy gets hit it comes up to the top of the hole fish in all Do you keep a tennis racket in your spear-house too?

jasonmichalski
It's a golf ball and you can set them by unwrapping line to stay in the hole. They make the decoy swim on its own to the top and the pike will almost always turn and nose the decoy, all this going on as your gliding the spear home. bassNspear
i think its a cool concept, however, i dont like the thick red line you are using. I still believe to this day need to use mono or clear line.
jasonmichalski
Tip-up line then a small dia wire leader with beads, had many pike and walleye come in for a bite but I have used a few feet clear line at different times. Depends on the day and fish.
