Single Cylinder Deutz diesel

Recommended Posts

I have a co worker trying to sell me a deutz diesel. It is a F1L208D. Everything is there and runs great. I thought it may be a fun wood split project. But..I can not find any info on them

Whats it worth? He is asking $350

I know they are German motors so they have to be good. Right?

Since you've asked this so long ago and no one has answered maybe that's your answer. No one knows. I wonder why you need that much motor. All you're doing it running a hydraulic pump. Seems like a lot of dough and overkill to me.

Never been around any Duetz single cylinder engines, but I know the larger multi-cylinder ones are good engines. Good power, good fuel economy, and good longevity.

I'd say if the engine runs good, and parts are still available, go for it. It would be much higher priced than that new.

Here's a video of a Duetz single with a different model designation:

The only thing that worries me is finding/affording parts if it breaks. Anything German made seems to be about 2X the cost to repair that anything else. Other than that it sounds like a good deal to me, don't know anything about the specific brand though.

We used 6-cyl liquid cooled Deutz in some equipment. Worked good when they worked, which was usually, but when they broke it seemed like getting service was sort of a hassle.

BTW, trust me, the German stuff isn't perfection either, speaking from experience with Deutz, Bosch, Bosch-Rexroth, etc.
