BryeGuy
I have a co worker trying to sell me a deutz diesel. It is a F1L208D. Everything is there and runs great. I thought it may be a fun wood split project. But..I can not find any info on themWhats it worth? He is asking $350I know they are German motors so they have to be good. Right? Tom7227
Since you've asked this so long ago and no one has answered maybe that's your answer. No one knows. I wonder why you need that much motor. All you're doing it running a hydraulic pump. Seems like a lot of dough and overkill to me.
swamptiger
Never been around any Duetz single cylinder engines, but I know the larger multi-cylinder ones are good engines. Good power, good fuel economy, and good longevity. I'd say if the engine runs good, and parts are still available, go for it. It would be much higher priced than that new. Here's a video of a Duetz single with a different model designation:

CAMAN
The only thing that worries me is finding/affording parts if it breaks. Anything German made seems to be about 2X the cost to repair that anything else. Other than that it sounds like a good deal to me, don't know anything about the specific brand though. Whoaru99
We used 6-cyl liquid cooled Deutz in some equipment. Worked good when they worked, which was usually, but when they broke it seemed like getting service was sort of a hassle.BTW, trust me, the German stuff isn't perfection either, speaking from experience with Deutz, Bosch, Bosch-Rexroth, etc.
MJ1657
I would like to hear it run. I have been around a few single cylinder diesels and they have all been very loud but sound cool.
ghostranger
A good place to look for parts would be an Agco dealer. Most of the parts should be available. The nice part about the Deutz is that they are air cooled!
BryeGuy
Its very loud! I read online that some people use single cylinder diesels in go karts. I cant see them going very fast but they might be good at pulling stumps and rattling your teeth.
Whoaru99
Dunno about for a small engine like that, but for the ones we used everything (parts, service, tech specs, etc.) was done by serial number of the engine.
MJ1657
I've been around some English antique tractors called a Land Bulldog. They have a large single cylinder diesel engine. They sound really neat.
