tengy
Any reports of yellows from the little lake yet? Or is it still lesser quality fish(small size)? Biggins moving in or are you guys still finding them hanging out in the big lake? Any info helps. Planning to make a trek down this weekend with this heatwave we're 'suppose' to get. Makes perfect for hole hopping. Tight lines.
FishingRebel
Some of my buddies were out on the Little Lake earlier this week. They did fantastic with the Yellow Bass. They couldn't keep the Yellows off the hook. Average size they told me was about 8 inches.
roughfish29
So if a guy were to try to get some yellows out of clear, say, tomorrow, where would you guys say to look?
Kevan Paul
Most of the Yellows that we have found are in the big lake. Pumphouse, North Shore, and or the Channel. If your looking in the little lake I would try right out in the middle on the flats. Small jigs loaded with spikes works great.

Kevan Paul
We have been finding some Yellows in the little lake. 6 to 8 fow. We have been drilling a good number of holes to stay on top of them. I've found most of mine on the north side.
dale struck
How is Clear Lake this week for fishing, anyone heard or been there ??? I am going with a guy this week to some farm ponds that he knows about. Will post how we do later this week.
Kevan Paul
The Yellows have been coming from the big lake on the west end. Pump house and Baptist camp. They have been hard to find but once you can get on them you should be able to do well. We have been fishing the channel in the little lake also. Lots of fish but most of them are small. MidCoast
Last winter the Yellow Bass was on fire on Little Clear Lake. This year, not as much and have to work for them. What happened to the Yellow Bass in Little Clear Lake? All fished out?
Capt. H (Ret.)
I spoke with a DNR officer several weeks ago at the Macintosh access and asked him the same question. He said that the yellows are going through a normal cycle right now and it will be at least 2 years before they are of any size. He didn't think the walleye situation in the lake would change much in the near future.Mike
Kevan Paul
The Yellows didn't make a big push to the little lake this year. We have been doing great out on the big lake. North shore has been fantastic. The size is down but we have a great younger year class that is ready to pop. If your still looking for yellows work the west end of the big lake or try north shore. Out from the state dock area has been my #1 spot. Walleyes are going to be great this spring. We should have a nice year class of 14 to 17 inchers this year. Im ready for open water! Tullies
Kevan,Any report lately from the little lake? I'm thinking a last run before ice out. Thanks.
Kevan Paul
Sorry for the late reply. The late ice season is over. We are now working on open water. The lake is about 20% open and melting fast. Or at least it was before this new white stuff. Im hoping to get the boat out Saturday for a couple hours and work the east shore. Maybe I'll get lucky and stick a couple eyes. Crystal is opening fast also. It won't be long and we will be catching those spring panfish and walleyes.
gloomiseye
Any open water eyes yet?
Capt. H (Ret.)
It's been cold, windy and rainy so I haven't tried it yet. Usually I can catch fish from the boat ramp casting from shore this time of year. The DNR report didn't mention Clear Lake so I doubt they are doing any netting yet. I did drive around the lake and the hatchery did not have any DNR boats used for netting parked in the parking lot and I doubt that they will net except to get an idea of what the prospect is. Clear lake used to provide many quarts of eggs for stocking purposes state wide but this has not been the case for several years. That tells me the population is way down. Kevan Paul
Clear Lake had some great numbers this year. The DNR ran nets for 5 or 6 days and the total numbers are not as large as spirit lake but the quality of the fish is real good. The first night they had around 300 fish with 3 boats. I think spirit runs 5 but Im not sure. The bite has been very good so far. We have been catching good numbers of eater size fish. Check the shore spots at dark to have your best luck. freebledsoe
I haven't been down to Clear Lake in several years, since the funeral for my amazing uncle who was a great outdoorsman. Feeling a bit sentimental... could anyone tell me how Clear Lake fishery stands now? Thinking about taking a day to drive down and fish some of the old spots Uncle Steve showed me. Won't be bringing a boat, just shore fishing and possibly wading in a couple areas.
KabNam
Yellow bass are biting well at the island. Crappies are biting well on minnows and bobbers although that maybe touch from shore. Walleyes are biting off the docks towards dark. Fishing has been good.
