Hookmaster
The soap dish/handle that is on the tiled wall of our tub/shower pulled off. What do I use to put it back on? The ready mix thin set mortars say not to use on "fixtures". The bag mix don't say anything about fixtures.
BoxMN
FWIW, I just used silicone on ours, this is on ceramic tile I think. Holding tighter than a drum. That is what the folks at Tile City told me to use.
Hookmaster
Silicone caulk or silicone adhesive? Maybe they are one in the same.
BoxMN
Mine was caulk I believe - got it at Tile City, so maybe a special formulation, but I don't think so. Mine is corner unit, and solid as rock about 4 years later. Good luck.
frazwood
My soap dish said to use silicone as adhesive. I specifically used a high-grade silicone caulk that was mold-resistant.
chad austin
Use DAP "tub and tile" latex silicon. It comes in a squeeze tube. DAP is the name brand. After you put the soap dish back up, use painters tape to keep it in place for the recommended time.
Warner's Point
Any kind of silicone will work. I would use white. Put a few dabs on the back along with some hot glue if you have any. Hold it in place for a minute so the glue can set up. IF no glue than use the tape. After it is set up put a bead around the edge of the dish. Wait a day before setting anything on it. cavalierowner
What is the material that the soap dish was attached to? Hopefully not sheetrock. I have seen sheetrock (rather than cement board) used behind tile a few times and and get damp from water penetrating at the grout joints. If that's what happened here, then you have a problem. If it's cement board, just be sure it's dried out very well and set in place with silicone as others have recommended.
