Tom7227
A rental unit and just informed that you need to enclose the stairs or put in spindles every 4 inches or something. I don't want to spend a ton of dough on it but I want something that will last and pass code. Any thoughts on how to do it? I'm thinking enclosing it with some paneling may be the easiest. chad austin
I am assuming this is in a basement? If so, frame in a wall on both sides of the stairway and Sheetrock.
cavalierowner
I am assuming this is in a basement? If so, frame in a wall on both sides of the stairway and Sheetrock. I agree. It will also probably be cheaper than paneling. Don't forget blocking on one side where the handrail brackets will go.
Tom7227
Going with the sheet rock as suggested. Time diverted to replacing 10 feet of plugged sewer ling. Most fun since.........?
Pinusbanksiana
Did you try a clog hog? Those things amaze!
Tom7227
No hogs were employed. An old fashioned snake was brought to play but thwarted with three 90's, a T 90 and a 45. This was greasy gunk and it didn't move at all. A 8 foot piece of pipe was easy to get at and I ran the snake down it several times. When we ended up taking it out you couldn't see 6 inches into it as the gunk had just collapsed back around where the snake had gone. CAMAN
Tell your renters to quit dumping grease down the drain!
