BTW what is the prefered Temp for Bigger Pike anyways?
Since most of the lakes in West Central MN are about 67ºF now, the bigger pike cant be far behind.

Yeh, 67ºF water in August, something isnt right here. tongue.gif

On Minnetonka yesterday I got a super-fat 32" pike, and about 24 others while muskie fishing. The big one hit on a Top Raider, and I thought I had a muskie on smile.gif My ex-landlord got a 36" two days ago at Lake Reiley. So my guess is yes, they are starting to coming in shallower.

trolling for muskies this morning,
pulled up a 35" pike,a beauty on a jointed
top raider. Thought I had snagged the
bottom of the world. Man, she took some
line ! Thick, too, shoulders like
a pro wrestler . 5 - 6 feet of water,
on top of a bar. Surface temp 67.

I came to the Pike forum to post the same question. Saturday my cousin and I were out fishing for Bass and we picked up a couple nice pike in 6-10 FOW. The first one was 35" and the second was 38.5". Water temps were around 66 degrees. Does the cool water make the Pike more active or are they just moving into shallow water in search of food?

Thanks,

Granny

I was hopin' this topic would come up. I've been thinking with the cooler temps that they'd be rising to the task of taking one of my lures. Sure can't wait to hook into one! What's the prefered lure in these temps?

Thought i had my first ski today. casted out a lure i had a follow on 3 days ago and about 5 cranks into my retrieve the fish hit like a brick wall. The fish jumped 3 times before i got him to the boat. Then i saw that it was a big northern. I reached out and tried to grab him. he went airborn again and took another 30 yrds. of line i got him to the boat and was able to grab him the second try. He measured out at 40" and weighed 15lbs. My biggest fish of my whole life. Got the pic on mille lacs on a black and green bucktail. If someone can tell me how to post a pic i can get him up.

half2fish,

Go to the photo sharing forum, then to the topic "shutterfly?". I answered another question about posting pics there. If you have any questions please ask. I'd love to see that fish!
