Must-see movies this summer

Wow. I just went to Dark Knight Rises this weekend and was underwhelmed. I didn't hate it, but the bar was raised pretty high with The Dark Knight, and this one just didn't deliver. I wasn't pulled in and didn't care about the characters like I had in the first 2 Nolan Batmans. Granted; it was a good movie, but overly confusing, and Bane's voice modulation made me really have to concentrate on making out what he was saying, and thusly removing me from the plot. I know the lore and I knew all of the characters, but I just thought it wasn't as smoothly written as Begins or TDK.

Ditto mcgurk. Thought it was entertaining and bane was definitely bad a. Pretty hard to follow up the last one though! Also saw total recall. Thought it was pretty good. No movie of the year or anything but a good solid scifi/action flick. If nothing else it's worth seeing just to see Kate Beckinsdale and Jessica Beil smack each other around! smile

I know we've talked about it before, itch, but I hated Looper.

If you haven't seen Lawless yet, that was a pretty good flick. Haven't seen many good ones this year though. The Hobbit is worth seeing in theaters though.

We went to see "Here Comes The Boom" with Kevin James... being a UFC fan I thought there were some pretty funny parts in there. I was also a Bourne series fan, seen the "Bourne Legacy"..... a little excitement, but pretty fragmented in my opinion. Besides, the lead dude had some of the weirdest looking fingernails? You know, I think it should have been titled "Bourne Legacy...Final Chapter!" We also seen "Trouble With The Curve" with Clint Eastwood. Watchable, but not as good as Grand Torino.

If they come to cable to quickly, there is probably a reason for it, not doing well with the movie going audiences.

Just got back from seeing Zero Dark Thirty. It was an excellent movie, based on the CIA agent who tracked UBL to where he was shot. It's a long movie at around 2hrs 30 minutes, but was a good way to kill a rainy afternoon. If you get bored this weekend, I'd recommend it.

Bin Laden dies at the end cool Quite the spoiler, right?

Rental or theater worthy? I'm pretty picky anymore with ticket prices...

Well it's right on the edge IMO. There wasn't a whole lot of special effects or great sound effects that would make me really want to see it in the theaters. I'd still say that the last half of the movie (Where there's a bit more action) makes it worth seeing in the theaters.
