Boom to Bust - Anyone have luck?

West Metro - Spent Thursday evening bass fishing and doing quite well. After trying some different spots, we soon had them dialed in off the deep weedline and did very well. Saturday morning I anticipated good fishing as the weather had been rather consistent and began fishing the same area starting deep and moving shallow, ultimately moving all over the lake spending the next 11 hours getting my rearend handed to me. Total count was 17 small bass for 3 guys.

Did anyone have similar experience?

I had a similar experience. Fished a metro lake Wednesday evening and did pretty well. Fished a different lake Saturday morning and it was tough to say the least. Fished for 5.5 hours and caught 5 fish. I did get two over 3lbs with biggest being 20" 4.5lbs. Fished yesterday morning on the lake I did well on Wednesday and got my butt kicked...4 hours of fishing and caught 3 dinks. Fished a different lake last night and did well haha. It has been a crazy week of fishing. I did get to call TIP for the first time last night...saw a guy keep a 2.5-3lb bass out of a catch and release bass lake. Not sure if the DNR showed up or not.

Can't figure out why Saturday was so difficult, particulary with the consistent weather. 3 of managed 17 bass. Most around 12" with maybe a couple around 14-15". Very frustrating as I can't put my finger on what I did wrong.

I posted in another place that i did well both sat and sun. Although the size may not have been huge on sat 2.5lbs max i got 27 in approximately 3 hrs. Was fishing shallows with any type of tube bait, although I did notice less bites on a 4 inch tube than a 3 inch tube. Sun. was just as good, but the size improved also, with several pushing 4 lbs. 25 fish total, same tubes, and did manage 2 on a spro frog as well. But the water I was fishing had a bit of current to it (think inlets n outlets) and no more that 4 ft deep. of course I'm not fishing in the cities either (western Mn), so that may make a difference as well.

We did very well both saturday and sunday in the alex/fergus area. No monsters though. Hit two lakes on sat. one for smallies and one for largies. Found most smallies still shallow around spawning areas with several still on beds. No pigs but lots in the 2-3 lb range. Ended up with 35 smallies in the morning between the two of us, caught a few off beds but focused more on cruisers. Caught most on jerkbaits, grubs, and swimbaits.

Hit a largemouth lake in the afternoon that had an awesome bite going. Biggest five went 21.5 lbs with the biggest two at 4.73 and 4.78. Caught easily 30 more fish between 3 and 4 lbs. Saw several fish still on beds but didn't really target them at all. Caught the largies on jerkbaits, swim jigs, and various soft plastics.

Sunday we hit a different largemouth lake in the evening and hammered them. Biggest five tipped the scales at 22.5 lbs with the two biggest both at a tad over 4.6 lbs. There were a ton of fish on beds on this lake with several paired up beds which was cool to see (full moon). We caught a couple off beds but again focused more on non spawners. Caught most of our fish on this lake on t-rigged plastics, but got a couple on jerkbaits and swim jigs. We ended up catching between 30 and 40 fish from 4:30 to 8:30 with an average size of right around 3 pounds.

We didn't get any 5's (and haven't yet this year but the numbers of 3-4.75 lbers we have caught the last week has been awesome. It has been a great start to the bass season, hopefully some of those big girls will start showing up in a few days.

I fished the Alex area the weekend after walleye opener. I was surprised at how few people were on the lakes we fished. I guess the fact that there are a lot of lakes helps spread things out. Must be great bass fishing up there since I'm guessing 90% of anglers are targeting walleye or panfish.

I had from May 24th to June 3rd off of work.

I fished all but 2 of those days.

Had a great frog bite several days on the same lake. A great Fluke/Senko bite on a small lake with Juan Grande. A frustrating Day on Mille Lacs with Juan Grande. A Frustrating day at the lake my dad lives on. Super Clear water, could see bottom in 20 foot of water when it was calm. Found fish on beds on that lake, work a couple that had fished paired up on them.

Ended the my vacation fishing a Maple Grove area lake Sunday evening and had an incredible 45 minute stretch where I hooked a fish on almost every cast and had fish blowing up multiple times on the rest of the casts. In that 45 minute stretch from 8:30ish to 9:15ish I wore out 2 Yum Money Frogs. Put 35 fish in the boat in 4 hours of fishing. Had at least 6 come unpinned before I could get them in the boat.

Cannot wait to get back on the water Friday Morning.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
