Looks like MN is out of the running for the mystery T for BASS. Permits have been applied for in Wisconisn, (Winnebago) and Sturgeon Bay.

Would love to see Sturgeon Bay, but sounds like there are a couple of Salmon derby's out there that weekend, could be tough to pull off...

If in Wisconsin and not on Lake Michigan or the River somewhere I would love to see those guys on the Chippewa Flowage over Winneconne, but I'm thinking they'll end up in the algae ridden cesspool anyway.

What about the St. Croix River? They held a FLW tournament there a couple years back so you know it can support a big event.

"GREEN BAY, Wis. — After months of speculation, the wait is finally over. The “Mystery Lake” now has a name. B.A.S.S. today announced that Green Bay, Wis., and Lake Michigan will be the site of the seventh Bassmaster Elite Series event of the season, June 28 through July 1, 2012."

So they still have over a month to plan for the event? Why was this made a big deal? I thought they were fishing the mystery lake just a few days after it being announced.

Sounds like they secured two permits in MN also, before picking Green Bay. Anybody know which two. Info from story on Bassmaster site.

Why would the WI DNR do this?

Sturgeon Bay will not be part of Tournament waters.

"The Wisconsin DNR has been very conservative in setting the tournament boundaries and excluding places like Sturgeon Bay. However, they have assured us there will be excellent smallmouth fishing on the east side up to Sherwood Lighthouse on the south side of Sturgeon Bay. Through negotiations, we were able to expand the western boundary up to the Oconto River, which will provide not only additional fishing area but expanded refuge for anglers in case of adverse winds. We have been working closely with the Wisconsin DNR to ensure that this will be another outstanding Bassmaster Elite Series tournament."

We already know Sturgeon bay had giants. I am interested in seeing how big the bags get.

I dont think those fish would find their way back an hour plus north if they were brought down to Green Bay. They are very proud of that Sturgeon Bay fishery and for good reason
