Clear water lures

Rigged up a few rods for this weekend and feel like i'm missing something. Lake is really clear, water temps are still a little cold I expect the fish to still be in prespawn with some possibly moving up by the weekend. Primary forage is most likely bluegill. Forcast is post frontal clear skies 70*F and sunny. Here is what I've got tied on:

1. Weightless Slug (Black)

2. 3/16oz Jig Worm (Green/Purple)

3. 3/16oz Grub Worm (Green)

4. 1/2oz Jig w/ rage chuck... might switch to a more subtle trailer (Green)

5. 1/4oz swim jig (brown)

6. Bandit 200 (river bream)

Like I said I feel like im missing something but not sure what... any suggestions?

Splitshot rig? Or what I call a stupid rig..

Flickey Shake rig?

Jerkbait?

Those crossed my mind too. I might pull the Jig worm off later in the day and throw on a Flick shake but I have so much confidence in it I feel like I need to start with it.

Same with the Jerkbait, starting with the Slug but I use the same size hooks for both so a mid-day switcharoo would be easy.

Just got done reading waynes blog and feel the need to throw on a ring fry grin

Lipless crankbait, suspending jerkbait, spinnerbait. A lot of different options. I seem to do really well on lipless cranks and spinnerbaits in the spring.

Spinnerbait is my go-to lure. However, with a lack of wind in the forcast and clear water im substituting the swimjig

I would definetly throw a soft jerkbait or wacky rigged senko around shallow cover, and of course a dropshot if you are gonna be fishing any deep structure. My grandparents live on a lake in wisconsin with 15 ft of visability and on previous openers I always did really well with those presentations.

Ok, So I probably caught 50 fish on Saturday. Grub Worm, Swim Jig, Senko and Drop Shot all worked well. But I only had one fish over 14''. I caught fish anywhere from 2-20' of water looking for bigger fish. I've never caught so many 13.75'' fish in my life. I went into the weigh in a little disappointed thinking I was going to be in last place only to learn 4 other people didn't weight in a fish.

Winning bag was in the 6lb range and only one limit was brought in even though everyone reported catching tons of fish. Some of the guys in our club are really good hooks too...

Ill chalk this one up to poor lake choice, I probably won't be back to Deer unless I'm looking for musky

Deer can be tough early in the year. It is always one of the last lakes to warm. Been humbled out there a time or two myself. I would probably have focused on the hard jerkbait and a lipless crank in any emerging vegetation. Maybe slowing down when fish are located.

Welcome to Wisconsin. A minimum length limit does a fabulous job of stockpiling fish below the minimum length when anglers are keeping a lot of fish. On the stringer they go when they hit 14" over there! A lot more bass are kept in cheesehead land than in MN.

Maybe for Deer, but I think it's just a bad lake as it is not suited for Centarchid growth. I wasn't much more than 10 miles from him and would have weighed roughly a 15lb bag (assuming we are talking 5 fish). Most of the lakes have high quality bass. As a rule of thumb for that part of Wisconsin: the dirtier the water the better the bass fishing.
