Lowrance H2O Problem

Iceman12

Question

I found my H2O on the ground in my laundry room, must have fell, now when I power it up I have a blank screen. Any way to fix this or did the screen get messed up when it fell? Sometime it comes up with a black screen, sometimes with blank screen but when the buttons are pushed it still beeps. Any suggestions?

I love my H2OC with ease of use and durability. Not that impressed with the newer units because it all boils down to the Map Chip and until a company makes remarkable improvements in that area why change the hardware. My buddy got the new Endura with touch screen and it is a PIA to use.

google "Garmin Upper Midwest Fishing Guide" for a chip that will blow the others away. I will agree on the touch screens, but Garmin makes some good button-type units, too, like my 62st.

Looked at it but is it only in meters? Can't get it to show feet on the demo and depths are all different by meters of course. Also, you in Perham MN? You know Dairyman who posts on here a lot? John something, son't know his last name but great ice fisherman.

After looking at it some more even in meters; it does not show near the detail or contours the Lakemaster does, nothing about the emerging vegitation, depth lines are not near as close, etc. This is a downgrade from Lakemaster IMO, I know it is cheaper and includes LOW/Rainy but I still think until someone can improve the Map Chip (software), hardware is irrelevant.

Has anyone ever had an issue where their H2Oc won't record waypoints? For some reason, my H2Oc wiped out my previous waypoints and trails, and will not take any new waypoints. It still reads the chip and shows the location, but will not take a waypoint.

bbfenatic:

1) The online images do show meters, but it will display in whatever measurement setting you have on your gps.

2) Yup, Perham. Don't know Dairyman.

3) In my experience comparing the two side by side, this chip's data is identical to the old LakeMaster data. What displays on your unit will depend on your gps settings for Detail, Profiles, POIs, etc.

try pulling the card and batteries and resetting. There also are a hard and soft reset that you can try as well. Search for H20 Reset on Google and you'll find instructions...

You'll also find a bunch of people that hate their H20, such as myself.

Wont lock onto satellites and is unusable. AND minimum $149 to have Lowrance look at it.

Have you tried updating the software on your H2O? I was ready to toss mine until a buddy told me about updating the software on Lowrance's HSOforum. Here's a link:

Lowrance product software updates

After I updated my H2O it locks on in seconds instead of minutes/hours.

thanks Hollywood! I just started searching on this problem yesterday. Havent used the H20 in a couple of years and tried this weekend and was complete waste of time.

I'll check my software version and try an update if available. thanks again!

Not trying to burst anyone's bubble, here, but with my ExpeditionC I did all of the soft resets, hard resets, and firmware upgrades possible, to no avail. Seems like many of these units simply decide that they're going to quit finding satellites, and they're done for. Right now, mine is very good at collecting dust.
