Keeping guides and reel from freezing

Why not just try wax or even vaseline? I havent had too much trouble with eyelet freezing, but if you wax your windshield on your car it repels water and really dont even need wipers. Put some of this on the rod eyelets and I would imagine it would work the same.

I used to have some kind of petroleum jelly or grease, very similar to vaseline, that was made for ice fishing. Ran out of it a few years ago and can't find it any more, and can't remember the name of it. Too bad, it worked really well. Lately I've been fishing outside with mono or copoly and pinching or pulling the ice off, it's kind of a pain in the a$$ but it works.
