5lb propane tank

Whats the cheapest price you have seen on one? If I found a tank (free) is it worth putting a new OPD valve in it for 25 bucks?

i dont remember what I paid for mine, but I would pay $25 for another one I know that. Light, dont take up much space in the portable, cheaper to fill.

5lb tanks actually cost more then 20lbs. I've seen tham as high as $53 bucks new.

Also, you might want to check and see how old the tank is. If it's close to 12 years old you might want the folks that put a new valve on to also hydro test it to keep it legal to fill.

When I bought mine a few years ago it was 45 bucks or so. I know it was quite a bit more then the 20 lbs tanks. Got mine at FF.

I like the 10# squat tanks......both are around 50 new

I've got 2 of the 5lb tanks, paid right around $40 ea. for them. If I was buying again I would definitely go with the 10lb "pancake" tanks. The 5 lb tanks are tough to get stable for transport etc where the 10lb "pancake" tanks will fit snug into a milk crate like a 20lb tank.

yup you got your self a pretty cheap tank if its free and you can put a new opd valve on it for $25, a local supply store has on of those 10lb squaty's that is $54 empty, I have a 5lb and wish it wasnt so tall. looking to get a squaty pretty soon...

Fishwater is right. You could put a new valve on it only to find it needs testing and then you have an old rusty tank that cost as much as a new one.

I found one at my LP dealer. A person dropped it off for refill & never picked it up. It was sitting in the cage for 2 or 3 years & I asked about buying it. $20 and it was full, with a new valve!!
