The Scott Wolter Collection

Recommended Posts

A friend and I recently met with Scott Wolter to talk agates at his Mpls suburban home. Scott has published a few books on the lake superior agate and his collection is outstanding!

These are what keeps me looking down.....

So people in my FB agate group were talking about this agate! I believe this is the Minnehaha falls Agate, which was found beneath the falls in 1932. Its believed that native Americans used this agate strapped on-top of a stick as a weapon. that's the reason for the strange vertical wear pattern! So incredible.

Scott has found his share of agates but he has purchased or traded for most of these. He's been doing this for many years. When I was a kid, I lived near a prime gravel deposit....if only I had known then what I know now cry
