New decoys for fall 2011

Just out of curiosity, unless the tail fin is metal and can be bent, why does it seem that all wood carved decoys rotate counterclockwise? In fact, so do my three plastic (horror!) decoys.

Mine always swim clockwise. It's not something I think about when carving it just happens that way. I'm right handed and when I lay out the pattern the head of the decoy is always to my right. When I sketch out the curve for the tail it's easier to sketch the arc in towards my body. Hold your right hand out in front of you like you're writing and bend your wrist. It's the easiest way for me to draw a smooth freehand curve.

I only made 6 this year and three were spoken for and I'm done for the year. Once I get the shop finished in the basement I'll putz around all year and make a few more.
