NAIFC on Pelican Jan. 8th!!

Recommended Posts

Sorry Joneshat, my opinion only- not to downgrade the event-- doesn't impress me a bit-- I could careless how many trophies or events a person has won in fishing. Most important is what has he/she passed on to the next generation of fisherperson's, those are the greatest fisherman in the world. I fish with a member of the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame and he doesn't hesitate to give me or my kids pointers, that.... is the best fisherman in the world.

This is only my opinion, but i would suspect a good portion of the anglers participating in this tournament would not hesitate to give you or your kids tips; and then, therefore, be classified as some of the best fisherman in the world wink Guess you will have to just show up and see.....

Pushbutton- Can't say for positive which event it was, but watched a event on TV over a year ago-- from my point of view, "All" partcipants were "a-holes" don't know if I viewed a bad tournamant your what, bud i sent my kids out of view of the TV. For me Personally the NAIFC is not a good thing.

Robbo, so you are basing your research on something you seen on tv? There were 250+ kids at the event last year that all got free fishing rods, lunch and on the ice instruction. I think you need to do some research before you do any more bad mouthing. As far as I Know there isn't a bigger kid event in MN that gets kids onto the ice. The only way your going to know is too see for yourself. Since you fish with an unnamed Freshwater Hall of Famer you should be able to get out there and help out with the kids. Show up tomorrow and I will personally introduce you to theses guys.

Robo, you better put your money where your mouth is as it seems to me it was pretty bold statement for calling people A-holes that you viewed on tv.

As a former partcipant, I don't consider any of the people who fished these tounaments nothing but the nicest people you could ever meet.

The first time I fished the NAIFC, we were at the information meeting the night before the tournament, and who sits down with me and my son, Dave Genz!

He talked to us for at least an half hour. We didn't ask him to sit with us, he was just wanting to sit and chat.

And all the rest of the partcipants in the NAIFC are more than willing to help in any way to help you put more fish on the ice.

Wanna learn to be a great fisherman than just a so-so fisherman, partcipate in the tounament! It's worth the money! 2c

Didn't mean to [PoorWordUsage] you off--- But yes, I based if off what I viewed on TV, Maybe it was editing or something. This event never showed what they did for the kids. So i would place blame on the NAIFC not me. If need help with the Kids, I'll be there -- where and what time

kids clinic & seminar was great this a.m. many thx to all who sponsored the event, my son & i loved it.

I know nothing of the NAIFC, but their staff, supporters, & volunteers did a great job & everything in their power to make sure kids were catching fish & having a great time.

If anyone has an issue regarding media coverage regarding such an organization, i highly recommend u do 2 things.

1. watch the media coverage very carefully & remember media can be very biased unintentionally (why does 1 or 2 presidential candidates get more coverage than all the rest)

2. if u see (or think u see) an unkind side to an organization, find them, investigate them, contact them, and ask them questions. dont just ASSUME because you saw the media coverage a certain way that it was ok or designed that way intentionally, it is on u to get YOUR facts straight if U have questions, not the organizations or media. badmouthing something/someone based on a single media perspective is ridiculous.....just like at the seminar this am they talked about the media coverage of 6 ppl with unsafe ice fishing trips this past week, they never mentioned the 350,000 that had a great time on safe ice.

Kudos to NAIFC, its supporters, volunteers, staffers, and sponsors!

You know for this being just a back door duck pond, I think the event is great.

anything to get kids on the ice is awesome, I wish the fish tasted better out of there.

everything I've caught the meat is a dingy as the water, maybe it's just me.

Keep on keep'in on NAIFC.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
