bryguy247
The only thing I was thinking when he smashed that rod, was thank goodness it didn't hit the guys in the boat. But I am guessing if you ride with Ike, you probably have to sign one heck of a waiver.... LOL
AwesomZZ
Ike’s still my fishing idol. I saw the whole thing and kind of felt that the tie was rigged. I’d probably go Ike too if I knew all I had to do was catch a 14incher to win my 100k. I mean, after all he was catching fish over 14 inches all day. Why can’t he just do it one more time, right? Perhaps he snapped and couldn’t stop himself or that’s how he wants to act. Though he’s still my role model, I don’t think I could break my pole and throw it away. I’d probably just do the yelling part for a very long time.
NickMcD63
I dont want to beat a dead horse, so I won't express all of my thoughts. Here is a fresh take that hasn't been brought up yet. I believe Ike cares more about how he is seen as a fisherman and the legacy that he leaves behind. In my recollection, Ike has come so close to making it over he edge, only to fall short over and over again. This was just another scenerio where he it was so close to being "his time" as he likes to say, and he fell short, which led to him blowing a gasket. Don't get me wrong I think in the heat of the moment, there isn't anyone as childish as he is, but when it is all said and done he is the first one shaking the victors hand. I'm not sure what you mean, Ike has already won a classic. How is that falling short? He already had his big moment on top of the world, I don't fault him for wanting it to happen again but the way he goes about it makes him look like a baby and an [PoorWordUsage]. JohnMickish
All I'm going to say is that you guys that think he acted like a jerk, how would you ack if you just lost $150,000 ($100,000 + boat) in a sudden death fishoff? I say if you wouldn't be pizzed you either have way to much money or don't have the competitiveness it takes to be in that spot.Nobody knows what KVD or Skeet Reese do off camera when they lose, for all we know they could go home and kick the dog. So he broke a $100 rod, big deal. I would have done the same thing too.
hockeybc69
OK, break the rod.... toss the thing in the lake too? Really? What a putz. Show me any sport and a player that acts like that and gets any respect.... Compare Ike to Van Damm???? Laughable....
TR21HP
How about the baseball player that strikes out and breaks his bat over his knee or, watch any hockey lately? How many players have you seen crack their sticks in half on the ice after a missed goal? Plenty of athletes out there doing the same thing over something far less trivial. JohnMickish
That is exactly my point. The difference between first and second in a major tournament is more than just cash, and the cash difference is HUGE.

OLY
WHO CARES!!! Ike is the man. Haters are gonna hate. Bottom line is he is one of the top bass fisherman in the world, one of the most entertaining, and definetly one of the most marketable. He isn't going away so either dont watch him or stop complaining about stupid stuff. NEVER GIVE UUUUPPPPPPP!!!!!
thatoneguy
so, basically it's OK to act like a spoiled, petulant child if:1. you're a great angler2. there's a lot of money on the lineI don't think I'll raise my boys that way, but to each his own. Free country and all. Me, I think it shows more character to be classy especially when the frustration is high, but then I'm funny that way.
