Juan Grande
Anybody catch the article in the most recent In-Fisherman with Jonny Petrowske's diamond strategy for tip up pike? Pretty informative article and great to see some national pub for a local guide (Upper Red).
th64
Saw it, great article-I wonder about what size bait he uses and what weight for his live bait rig. In-F. likes to promote quick strike rigs so I do not think they liked that he does not use one.
Random guy
I mostly use Bigtooth Tackle quick strike rigs, I really like the fluorocarbon versions. As for bait I use decoy suckers, 7-12” long. Of course a bait that big needs a good hold down. I like the ¾ or 1oz rubber core sinkers as I can quickly move them up or down depending on how much leash want to give the sucker. Clear water more leash for a natural swim action. Cloudy water I short leash them so they struggle and put of more vibration. Sometimes in ultra clear water I will use a hand tied single hook rig made from 80lb floro, of course I use oversized hooks so I can set ASAP to prevent gut hooking. 20lbSloughShark
I just read this article, and its exactly what I need; a stratagy. I hope to try it out next weekend. Does anyone know if little jim's has large suckers again? They ran out and haven't had any for a month.
