Sticky Poles

I thought there was something posted earlier but I can not find it. What does everyone use to make the poles slide easier? I have a Clam Pro and the poles are very tough to slide. Want to put something on them to make them slide easier. Was thinking something like a ski wax.

Steel wool the poles and then if your not satisfied you can put some dri lube on it. WD 40 leaves a dirt attracting film on your poles that just in time gum them up then you have to pull them apart and clean them, not to mention you have to sit in your house and smell it all day.

rich4walleyes..I also have the pro..tried all the waxes, silicone spray,wd 40..I just finished taking all the poles apart..12gauge shotgun brush, drilled all the insides out in case of a burr, used light steel wool on outside of poles...it is better but the first set of poles still sticks bad..I dont see where there is any thing wrong ,bent, crimped etc..

Been there. Done that. What I learned is that once a pole is stuck, for what ever reason, you are setting up to fish and, darn it, that pole is going to do what it's supposed to do! With tubular structures like these, there is a lot of surface contact, and therefore, friction. On my Denali, just thru the frustration of sticky poles, I had some bent poles. Only very slight, but bent nonetheless. I did my best to make them true, and then soaked them in with Remington Teflon Gun Lube. For my firearms, teflon is the only thing I use for sub-zero. Works great on Clam poles!
