What are the real world numbers on this auger? How many holes per can of propane with normal idling? I drill alot of holes chasing pannies and want to know if this is even practical.. Have a strikemaster now with lazer 6" and a nils bit for it (8"). was towing with idea of a nice 4 stroke or a tanaka..... strike lite not out of the question either.

If you drill a lot of holes and hole hop the Jiffy Propane probably isnt a good choice. Its HEAVY like other Jiffy's. You say you have a Nils auger assembly so I would get a Nils power head for it and have the lightest fastest hole hopping auger out there. I love my Nils!

If your a hole hopper a Jiffy isn't the best choice. Like Northlander said a Nils is probably a better option. If you don't fish out of a hardside house I don't know that have a propane auger would have much purpose. I myself have a big old 10" 3 HP Jiffy that I used when I set up my hard side house and then I have a nils that I use when going the portable route.

The Pro 4 does drill great but if you drill alot of holes hopping I can't see it being cost effective. I drill alot of holes a year and have yet to burn up a gallon of gas in my tanaka for a total annual cost of about $5... For me I can't justify the almost double weight and added cost of keeping spare green bombs around....My Nils gets heavy enough after about 50 holes....

Finishing up my 2nd full season with the Pro4, and whilc I haven't counted, I'm very pleased with the amount of holes per cylinder.

That being said, I agree with the above posters...it's NOT a hole hoppers auger...just too heavy.

I know I am a little late on this.

But for anyone considering buying the Pro 4. JUST DO IT !!

Its one less thing to have to fill with gas.

You won't have gummed up carb issues.

Its not that heavy... come one guys.

I've gotten 150 holes on a 'green bomb' before.

Drills fast holes.

Propane is a lot lighter than carrying extra gas around.

Love it
