ICE

TRZ II

Recommended Posts

Ice in northeast South Dakota; fishable in some spots. Yeah, forecast high of 52 tomorrow...but 20 overnight tonight, and and 17 overnight tomorrow night. A lot more time in the next 36 hours of making ice than any melting of ice...

I fully expect to be on the ice Saturday...

Might as well get the boat back out or go up North to find ice.

Or head south! The weekend before thanksgiving I was out on 3 inches by Trimont MN. All the lakes reopened the week of thanksgiving but with the forecast it looks like we will easily have 3 plus inches again this weekend on most if not all the area lakes.

I was up in the Crookston area for Thanksgiving, I live in the cities. The lake that my parents live on looked too thin until I walked down to the shore. The ice was 4 to 6 inches thick and I did not bring any of my gear, darn I kept walking out and busting holes and the thickness was consistant. I even heard a rumor while up there that somone was seen on LOTW fishing already. The season is close!!!

Anybody from the brained area have any reports? Might be heading up on Sunday and playing with the idea of bring my gear up...?

Here is the link to the MODIS satellite page for today. Today's image is the first one in a week or so that has given a clear view of the entire state (no clouds)

Check out the MODIS satellite image and it looks like all of the lakes in the brainerd area are still open water. It looks like North Long Lake is starting to get ice around the southern shore line.

As for other lakes, it looks like Upper Red is almost fully iced over and LOTW has shore ice around almost the whole lake. Mille Lacs is still wide open. Looks like almost all Duluth area lakes show no signs of ice.
