Slandering...really? I imagine you would see it that way that's too bad, its his opinion just like you have yours right now. I disagree with you 100% but your completely entitled and I will read anything you want to write, I only thought it was comical for you to take all time to read the topic then take the time to comment only to say close it, because you disagree with it. I'm sure it was nobodys intent to "insult, slander" anybody, just a healthy debate with varying opinions. Stop reading it if its that bad, it seems to me the two posts on here (one already locked frown that got the most responses are the two controversial topics with people all fired up, but getting a ton of feedback, interesting and entertaining to many.

As far as productive, often topics are not productive or even interesting enough to get a response I didn't see you comment on those...or maybe you are waiting to see if sasquatch does exists in the forest (not to bash the guy that put that one up, it was funny).

Jimmy are you serious?

You want laws made to improve YOUR hunting experience.

YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS!?!?!?

Not entirely, but if all groups drive deer like this group of !?!?!??, then yes I am.

Honestly, I don't believe deer drives on public land should be illegal, all I'm asking for is common sense, courtesy, and respect for your fellow sportsman.

The old saying that common sense isn't so common anymore is right on, but after reading some of these posts I think we can add courtesy and respect.

Good luck to all and be safe.

I choose to hunt only from a stand and that is the choice I have made for me as I feel this is the safest way to hunt deer. Again that is the choice I have made.

I personally do believe that some deer drives are dangerous only due to how some do it.

Would I ask for deer drives to be outlawed, no way.

We can each hunt the way we like and if we all do it safely and with some consideration for all the other hunters afield, then all will be good.

yes, there are some who will not do this but one can never stop those who only are concerned with what they do and how they do it.

It does not matter if we are talking fishing, hunting or any other sport.

Over the span of many years, I've been involved in a number of conversations about "exes" that become particularly vicious. My usual response when conversations go this direction is to point out my good fortune to almost universally find myself in the company of the "good ex". Such it is with being an HSO member and reading Jay and Jimmy's initial posts complaining about others and using terms such as idiots & yahoos. It's immediately obvious that we are hearing from the ethical and true sportsman. The easiest solution seems to be to get these idiots and yahoos into HSO and have them start posting...thereby welcoming them into the fold of the courteous and the ethical.

While both Jay and Jimmy have made valiant attempts to get agreement from respondents it appears to me that, even if universal agreement is reached in their respective threads, their situations remain unchanged. 20 people sitting on one end of a teeter-totter provide great fellowship but no movement. The problem is not the problem! The solution is the problem! My perception is that little if anything has been done by either of the complainants to achieve solution. The great thing about intentionally hitting one's thumb with a hammer is that, even though it sucks to do it, it feels so good when you stop.

I think Getanet's statement that hunters pose the greatest threat to the future of hunting is the most valuable post in this discussion. As a non-deer hunter, who is friends with three different individuals whose families have been affected by deer hunting (shooting) deaths, I have reservations about the current deer hunting practices, given the number of Minnesota hunters taking to the field each year. Threads like Jimmy's and Jay's just add to such reservations.

BTW, 2 of the three deaths occurred from hunters shooting from stands. The third death was from an undetermined stray bullet. I also live in a home that had a slug go through 3 walls before it stopped.
