DIY Peet Boot Dryer

Scott M

Question

Just curious if anyone has ever tried making a boot/glove/waders dryer? Seems like with a kitty litter box and some PVC you could make your own, but without the heating element. Maybe toss in a computer fan or a little clip on style fan at a second hand store...Just spitballing, anyone try this before?

why would you waste the time just go buy one they arent that costly in fact I think I bought mine for under $30 and it is one of my better purchases...after materials and time you will be in probably $15 + time.

I've got a boot drier and it works OK.

Definitely can improved though.

The motor is cheap and so are the blades.

IMO if your drying out a boot it makes no sense to have them upside down on a dryer.

Make your boot dryer so the boots sit upright so the air naturally vents straight up and out.

I disagree, if the boots are upside down, the warm air gets up to the toe area and when it cools, of coarse the air sinks. Provides good air movement and any water can naturally drain out.

i will try and get pics...

wood box 1 foot square

2- 3/4-1" PVC 12' long

2 end caps to fit the PVC

2 PVC splices for said PVC cut in half

1 plain light bulb fixture.

1 computer fan

1 old cell phone charger/ old vexilar charger I have used both

silicone/window caulk

screws

cut out a hole for computer fan to fit in. I siliconed mine into the hole. Light bulb goes inside the box, 100W bulb for the heat. The smaller the output on the charger, the slower the fan turns. PVC goes on top. the splices used to hold it in the box, cap on the end and drill holes in it. total cost for me was the light bulb.

guess I didnt use an end cap on the PVC and it looks like 1 1/2." The charger (mine is 200millamp output) is hooked to the fan you can run with or without the light, and with or without the fan. Hopefully the pics work.

You can kind of see the light on the inside through the fan.
