1johntimm
I have a bathtub faucet with a drip I cannot stop? Try to turn the knobs back hard, and it still drips? What do I do to fix this?
Surface Tension
Have a look here It'll depend on what type valve you have. In the above link replace the cartridge and seals behind the cartridge with a kit.
1johntimm
Ok, I'm not a plumber at all. What do you mean by cartridge? How do I tell what type of valve I have. The house was built in 98 so it's "fairly" new.
Jim Almquist
What he is saying is to shut off the supply line. Take off the handle. There will be a nut that you have to take off and at that point you should be able to pull the cartridge out. Just remember what brand you have like Moen or Price-Fister and go to your hardware store and you should find a replacement cartridge. 1johntimm
Alright thanks! It is a Delta faucet with a 2 turn knobs (hot and cold). Will all Delta cartridges fit this or is there several types?
Archerysniper
With a 2 handle faucet you should be able to pull the handel and cartridge out and their should be a rubber washer on the end, and my guess is their is a bad spot. You can replace it by removing the screw in the end and getting a new washer.
Surface Tension
If you know the model number its super easy to get the replacement parts.Otherwise bring the cartridge along with the seals to any big box store.Don't forget the seal, it sits in the valve body under the cartridge, there is a spring under it too.
