Gordie
Got back last night and had to get up early for work started a new postion at work ..anyway as I said in the last post didnt have any service out on Devils Lake and when I typed that last post with my phone I forgot my glasses in the truck and I cant even understand what I wrote We got out to Brocket ND around 10 am on wed. and met up wth a buddy of mine that lives out there ( he was working in Brocket) and he said there were a ton of mallards and geese on a couple ponds that the farmer owned that he was working for and we had permission to jump them.. So we headed off to jump those ponds and we kicked up 6 mallards got three and the second pond we jumped had 300 geese on it but they were spooked off by something else not sure what. so that was a bust. So we went to DL and unpacked then hit the water for the last hour to scout for birds and MAN did we see alot of birds and it rekindled the fire for our trip. Thursday morning got out on the lake early and found a great spot set the decoy lines and the boat got turned around and the decoy line got tangled up in the motor which had no reverse. that took around an hour to straighten out but managed to salvage the day with this. Then on fFiday we decided to try field huting and that didnt pan out so well, as we only got a couple geese and two mallards, the night before there were a thousand ducks and geese in this field but they must of left. That afternoon we went back out on Devils Lake and got a bunch more divers a limit of bluebills and redheads along with some ringnecks. Saturday the boys wanted to try feild hunting again, I didnt want to but they insisted on it and this time it was a total bust and once again found ourselves hunting for divers in the after noon as the boys were seting up the blind we had a flock of about 100 bills come screaming in and set 20 yards from us of course no guns were loaded and it was great to se the birds work the decoys and to know that the set up worked. here are few more pics all in all it was a great trip and we counted up our numbers at the end and it was 68 ducks and 2 geese I cant wait to get back I would like to head out in November for some of the real nice redheads as I was told by the NoDak Fish And Game CO thats when the really nice ones show up and that we had one of the nicest redheads he had seen yet this season.
