Las Vegas Indy accident

IZOD Indy series

Dan Weldon was air lifted from the race track to the Vegas hospital after a 15 car crash. No reports yet on the condition of Dan Weldon. Very ugly accident. Looked like Weldon was very high in the air with the car and then hit the catch fence. Speeds in excess of 220mph.

I believe 4 others were also sent to the hospital from this accident.

Prayers sent to the Weldon family and crew and the others who were transposted by ambulance.

From listening to the drivers and owners, they believe there were too many cars allowed in this race with 35 as the track is very fast and too many rookies an others were in this race.

Hopefully all will come out of this without too many serious injuries.

Race has been red flagged for the past 1.5 hours.

Every time we go racing I fear these accidents but I guess when one has to wear a safety fire suit and a helmet, you know these type accidents can happen and one hopes that a bad one never happens to any driver.
