Normally when it blinks too fast one of the bulbs are out. Check carefully, sometimes there is more than one bulb in a light, so even if it looks like its working it still may be only one of two bulbs working. Otherwise the most common thing I find is broken or corroded wires from a trailer plug installation.

Check dome light bulb and fuse.

A bad flasher would do the same thing on both sides, not just one or the other.

A bulb with a loose filament can and will work intermittently in many cases.

A corroded connection can often work intermittently with moisture involved.

Remove each bulb and clean the connections with steel wool or a small file and spread a thin layer of dielectric grease on all the connections. Remember to keep the bulb clean and do not touch the bulb directly with your fingers, also wipe the bulb with a Kleenex towel when done.

Those are good points, especially about the flasher. But doesn't a bad bulb make the flashing slower? It was my experience that a burned out bulb makes slower flashing. A trailer or other extra load makes faster flashing. That is why I suggested some sort of short.

Is there a trailer harness? They run under the car where they could get damaged.
