Another regs question

Recommended Posts

I have a friend you was drawn for a special veterans firearm hunt in October. He plans to hunt the veterans hunt but as we were talking last night we were unsure on if he could still hunt in the regualr firearms season.

The area we plan to hunt during the regular season is an either-or zone this year. I know if he shoots a buck during the vet. hunt thats his 1 buck for the season but we weren't sure if he could then hunt the regular season and harvest a doe in the either-or zone.

Or if he takes a doe during the vet hunt could he then still shoot either a doe or buck during the regualr season?

He's planning on talking with the organizers of the vet hunt to check on his status for the firearm season but I thought I'd pose the question to you guys as well since i know everyone likes debating regs.

If he shoots a buck it needs to go on his main tag. All deer shot in Hunters Choice areas need to go on main tags. So he would be tagless and couldn't tag anything in a HC or lotto area if he takes a buck during the October vet's hunt.

We need to know the limits of the vet's hunt to answer the doe question. Is it Ripley?

If it is than....He can use a bonus tag on the doe and still have a main tag to use in the HC area later during the regular season. And the one (or two) doe shot at Ripley would not count toward his limit of one in HC/lotto areas.
