tcroz
I have just recently purchased a cabin on Lake Winnie(Bena) was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of some good grouse area. Also would love to get a hold of some good maps of trails. Very familiar with the water not so much with the woods. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Croz
laportian
Down by Boy River, about 10 miles form you is a good starting point. Lots of good grouse county. All the way over to Brevik there lots of good forest service roads. Also if you head west along HWY 2 a few miles from Bena and check out the Sucker Bay, Ketchum, and Cuba Hill Roads that are all interconnected. Lots of good country to the immediate north of the lake too. Take the West Winnie road north and go explore.

Chef
You can also head North on Cty 9 just East of Bena on 2 and hop off anywhere along that road that looks Grousy. I've had great luck there over the years.Good Luck and post your trip results.
Matt Breuer
Or you can head west a hair to the Scenic Hwy and bump up into the deeper sections of the Chippewa. Awesome hunting in spots, and tons of forest to hunt up the Scenic...
fishuhalik
also check out the area around squaw (aka nature's) lake. wherever you end up, you really cant go wrong in that area. there's good bird hunting on 9 out of 10 trails up there. look for trails that are closed to atvs and trucks too. those trails see a ton more traffic cuz most ppl (me) are too lazy to get off their wheels
