What food sources now?

Will the deer stick to the acorns until they are gone or will they get sick of them and wonder off to the fields again to feed?

Good questions and I am not really sure, it might depend on the individual deer taste or what kind of acorn crop you have in a given area. I think when the first start dropping they hit them pretty hard and then slowly turn back to the fields or other food sources.

I haven't seen this myself but I have heard many people talk about a specific tree or group of small trees kind of being a hot zone and deer will walk across a giant oak flat to get to these trees. It might be that they just produce the sweeter tasting acorns or something but I have heard it enough to belive it. So while hunting any oaks could work finding some of these highly attractive oaks could pay off big.

Like mentioned, beans that havn't turned, acorns, food plots will all attract deer. I like hunting edges this time of year just for the sake of visibility and lack of skeeters...

I also have a sweet little spot at a river crossing, between bedding and feeding area, they usually grab a drink before heading out...but anyway..

I hunt the mid south east, farm and bluff country. Seems the bean tops are all eaten off and they are hitting the brassicas pretty good too.

I feel like this is one of the hardest times of the year to pin down what the deer are feeding on. I also think that is why there is a late September, early October lull. Any single day could have deer focusing on acorns, wild fruits, apples, beans, corn, any green foodplot, natural vegitation, etc. Until we get a few killing frosts and some of nature's bounty is elimnated, it will be hard to tell what deer are keyed in on for anything more than a few days.
