Started pheasant hunting a couple years ago, and got hooked. So today my buddy said, lets go dove hunting.

Low and behold, 10 minutes in and my first shot, I get one. I told my wife that she will likely see me even less now. smile

And here is my first Dove.

So do they taste like chicken?

I often thought about it, but then it seems like more work to clean them than it is to eat them.

They don't taste like chicken: they're better! I pluck my doves. It takes literally seconds and the skin helps keep in the moisture. Stuff the cavity with some apples or other fruit, and a bit of herbs, paint with oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Then grill over high heat, first on the back for a few minutes, than a couple minutes on each side, and finally finished breast down. Moist, tender, and very flavorful. You'll never breast out another dove, I promise you that!
