1999 evinruide 225 ficht

I am looking at purchasing a boat with a evinruide 225 fict, what are your thoughts on these motors

I had this exact motor two boats ago and never had a problem with it, unless you count the lower unit, but that wasn't the motors fault.... Has it for three years and sold it to a guy from N. Carolina.

I have a 2001 200 ficht. It might be different for your year but if I remember right, if it was made in Canada its good. I've never had a problem with mine and I've had it for 6 yrs. Good luck.

If something were going to go wrong, it would have already I'd think. From what I remember of the FICHT issues, they manifested themselves pretty much right off the bat.

Never hurts to have a mechanic give it the once over (true of any used motor) but if it's lived this long...

There were some gremlins with the early fichts and RK is right if it has made it this long the problems should have surfaced already. It would be good to know if there has been any service done to this motor regarding powerheads or injection system. I am not sure what the best way to find that out is, with cars it is much easier should it have been warranty work.

Has this owner had it since new? hopefully he is a standup guy and would tell you of any problems he had.
