Superduty
Chuckwagon,Ditto on what Deitz said. I ended up on Mille Lacs awhile back with a neighbor that has a BIG 20' Alumacraft walleye boat. The wind picked up before the day ended and it got a little rough. I hadn't been in a big aluminum boat for a few years. I was stunned at how poor the big tin boat handled the chop while running. Nothing rides like glass.
gritsnham
Very sweet rig cant wait till I get one of those someday...until then its the old aluminum sail but hey a boats a boat for now.Does that one come with the padded deck as well?
Larson15
Thanks for all the comments. TR21, Yes the chine walk thing was really getting old especially when only going 52! St.croixfishin, that was me out there Gritsnham, no padded deck but floor does seem to have more cushion than my last boat for whatever reason. As stated above, nothing rides better than glass. I grew up fishing smallmouth and walleye on lake Erie and can vouch for that! Regarding getting wet I don't believe you get anymore wet in a bass boat but it also depends on the boat. I have been in a few xyz branded bass boats and couldn't stay dry and have been in other xyz boats and was dry as a bone. All depends on the brand, model and the driver. MNdreaMN
I'll give another plug for Bass Cats. I have been in one since 2007. I have fished in several other brand boats...the others were nice, but the thing that stands out most about Bass Cat is their customer service. They are still family owned and operated.Larson, you need to make it down to Arkansas next May to fish the Bass Cat owners tournament. Nothing like seeing several hundred beautiful cats running around. The best thing is you rarely see two that are the same color combo.KT, you are always welcome on my boat! You should have said something this spring. We will be up same time, same place next year (God willing).
kt
MNDreamMNI will definitely have to take you up on that next year. The little lake that had been so good to you guys a few years ago has been pretty tough this summer, we've only caught one over 4 lbs out there and really haven't fished it that much, which has been really disappointing. The lake we saw you on on opener morning has been tough as well, in fact i haven't fished it since mid june. Other than those two lakes the fishing has been pretty good this summer. We picked up a 25.1 lb 5 fish bag on a lake yesterday morning topped off with a 6.34 lb kicker. I'll have to shoot you an email one of these days. MNdreaMN
KT,Sounds like just another day at the office for you. Nice bag. We will definitely have to get together next year. Shoot me an email and let me know how things have been.
bASS_BLASTER
Congrats on the new boat. Chine walk requires lots of seat time with proper adjustments. Trim & jackplate only helps reduce the walk but will not eliminate or cure it. It took me over 1 yr to master chinewalk. Now its 2nd to nature. Every boat that hit high speeds will walk. I think your old TR may have a hull designed flaw. Shouldn't be walking at 54 if a nosecone merc sporty, yammie or etec and jackplate was part of the setup. Larson15
That boat had an incurable chine walk because I was unable to raise the jack plate due to my hole shot issues. When I did raise the plate it was drivable. The hull was not a TR hull, it was an x2 hull.
bASS_BLASTER
Gotcha. Well, that's all behind you now. Hopefully guys looking into this boat will see your complaints. It happened to many others so it wasn't a lemon. Good motor choice on that cat.
