Bear ?

Recommended Posts

I was selected in the lottery and got a license for area 51. A friend has a cabin 10 mi. away in the no-quota zone. He is having a real bad bear problem and wants me to hunt there. With a lottery license can I take a bear in the no-quota zone? Thanks

I think you have to buy a no quota tag over the counter to hunt there. I think you can fill two tags as long as one is no quota. Next time tell him to but a guide licsense and charge a willing hunter to take care of the problem for him. Or i could help out whistle

Its kinda worded funny, wish I had it in front of me, but my partner an I have debated this, an after disecting it, it seems to me that you can. the only restrictions in my understanding is if you were drawn in 51 then ur of course restricted to 51 in qouta, if you buy a nonqouta your restricted to nonqouta with the non qouta lisence. but it dosent say that u cant buy both as long as u hunt in the area that the lisence is restricted to. Best to call.

So you think I would need to buy another license. That don't makes no sense! Why would the DNR discourage hunters from taking bears from an area they don't want them if I have purchased a license? I'm sure plenty will chime in to badmouth the DNR but hat is not my purpose.

I guess I think it makes perfect sense. Like deer, bear are not managed on a statewide, one-size-fits-all program. Your license is for a specific area, and if you want to hunt another one, you need a license to hunt that area.
