E-mail me your adress and I will send you out some crawler harnesses I make along with some other goodies. I want to keep every kid we can fishing! Make sure to remind me who you are and what happened in the e-mail. Thanks.

That is a very generous thing of you to do Northlander, if only there were more people out there with that kind of generosity.

Regarding the tackle, if you're shopping for panfish tackle i would look at some jigs, soft plastics, split shot & hooks, bobbers, things along those lines. Jigs: that range anywhere from 1/64 oz all the way up to 1/8 oz. Soft Plastics: look for minnow immitating soft bodies, twister tails, and insect immitators. Split shot, hooks, and bobbers: these are great for the average fisherman. pike require a little bit heavier tackle. Rattle baits and baits that grab attention are perfect for pike. Pike are a very easy to target because they are one of the better fighting fish and will usually bite any type of lure that you throw at them. I hope this helps out a little, and im sorry for your nephew's loss

I would stay away from stuff like Rapala's and other expensive baits. For panfish nothing beats Beatlespins (in my opinion). They are super cheap and super effective. You can get them in all different sizes for panfish and the bigger ones for Bass. For Pike, Spinnerbaits are cheap and very effective. Maybe a couple daredevils in different sizes. I would also get an assortment of different size jigs and worms, as they are another bait that can catch many different species (Walleye, Bass, Pike, etc.) and are pretty affordable.

Other than that, probably just a few packs of smaller hooks for panfishing and even Carp fishing. Split shots, bobbers, etc would also be useful.

Goodies should be in the mail in a few days. I hope he enjoys it all. If there is anything he uses a lot of and I didnt send it let me know and If I have it around Ill send it out.

Keep them fishin and they dont have to spend time with me at my job.

For pike I've had the best luck on spoons. Someone already mentioned dare devils but Little Cleos are also very effective. There are many different brands all with the same paint colors so you can get them as cheap as $1/lure.

Orange and gold, 5 of diamonds, red/white, perch colored, silver are all good colors. Add in a pack of steel leaders and maybe a spinner bait or two and he's set for pike.

For panfish I think others have pretty well covered it. Small jigs, some small plastics, and beetle spins. Beetle spins will catch anything and everything and they are like $2/lure, hard to beat them. They are actually a go to lure for me on almost any water.

I bet for $20-30 you could get him pretty well stocked for the remainder of the summer.

How about a small gift certificate from a nearby sports store, and take him there to pick out a few things himself. you still get to spend time with him then you can both go fishing again to try them out. Just a thought.
