Bruin sighted mid-day!

Recommended Posts

While in route to a baseball tourney yesterday, driving thru a very familiar area, I spotted what I initially thought was a big black Angus wandering across a CRP field - not pasture land. I even turned to my wife and said, "Look, I wonder how that old girl got out." My wife then said to me, rather shouted, "That's a bear!"

We pulled over and watched an absolutely gorgeous 350+ lb. boar just amble lazily around this tall CRP for about 10 minutes - at 12:05 p.m. with high sun and temps in the mid-80's! It should be noted that there was a bee yard in the area, so I'm sure this old fella had a snoot full of something he couldn't resist.

Just to let you know, Boar, he was only a few miles east of your stompin' grounds! This one would make a beautiful rug bear! Hope he finds his way to your bait stations!

Exciting to see one like that mid-day. My 83 yr. old Mom, and 9 yr. old son were along, and it was their first time seeing a large wild bear. Very cool!

What I found particularly interesting was how full-coated and beautiful this animal was, despite all the heat we've been having recently. Really makes me wanna get back into bear hunting again.
