Superduty
The new waterfowl catalogs are starting to trickle into my mailbox. Seems a little disappointing as far as new products are concerned. Have we finally reached the point where decoys and calls are going to plateau? The new winchester loads look interesting as far as competing with Black Cloud. Maxxed Out
There are the new Avian X decoys by Fred Zink are out ($220/6 pack=pass) Hard Core went with something brand new that they call the feather skin which is supposed to be their answer to fully flocked decoys. Dakotas and Bigfoot had new releases last year (I'm guessing GHG will have to come out with something new next year). The short reed market is completely oversaturated with calls and call makers. I'd say it's about on par.
TylerS
I honestly think it's come to the point of same-old, same-old. I mean, really, what new can come out nowadays that we actually need? Decoys are more realistic than ever. Camo is more sophisticated than ever. Shotgun shells are faster and harder hitting than ever. I mean, I don't know about you guys, but I'm in new product overload. Now that every company out there has a fully flocked, high definition, anatomically correct line of fullbody decoys, they all just seem the same to me. Maybe we've hit a plateau as far as hunting equipment is concerned? I dunno, I'm kind of a glass-half-empty kind of guy, but that's how I see it anyway. life=outdoors92
when i saw remote control mallard decoy, that's what put me over the edge... are those things even legal??
Quackaddict9
yes, legal in some states. Not MN as far "Remotes" are not legal in MN. There has been debates between hunters that we are allowed to use remotes on mojos/robos etc.
TylerS
when i saw remote control mallard decoy, that's what put me over the edge... are those things even legal?? I dunno...a remote on a spinner is pretty key if you're hunting honks and ducks in a field situation and you want to shut off the mojo when a flock of geese is in the area. In that same breath, I don't have a remote, so typically put the spinner right behind my blind so I can reach up and turn it off when needed. What put ME over the edge was the darn spinner that came out a few years ago with light-up wings. What the heck were they trying to do...land an airplane?!?!
RumRiverRat
Superduty the only thing you need to buy is some GHG Oversized Can decoys. IF I buy another dozen and you buy a dozen, imagine what the spread will look like on that lake where you killed that Bull Can last year! RumRiverRat
LOL Elwood.3 or 4 dozen Can Decoys is all you need on this lake.It is a great spot, basically have two points with tall trees that form a narrows on this particular lake. Act as a funnel/choke point for the ducks. The spot works no matter the wind direction, just move to the calm side of the point. We hunted it the day that all the wet heavy snow fell in the metro about 2 weeks left in the season.Wind was howling and the lake had white caps on it.Saw 1500 plus ducks.
