Falcon rods

Have any of you ever had or do you currently have a Falcon rod? A local shop has some nice graphite rods fairly reasonably priced. The guy in there said they compared favorably in feel to Loomis but without the price.

I'm always on the lookout for a good deal on a nice stick, but I don't know much about this particular brand.

I've heard the same also. I'm a St Croix man myself, so I won't be trying them. If you get one let us know.

What are the prices?? The St Croix Avid series run $140-$160 and are wonderful. Remember to check warranty info. The nice thing about spending $160 on a St Croix, is that if something goes wrong you get a new one.

Guys come on this forum all the time and post that their $60 fleet rod works as good as a St Croix. Untill they break it!!! It isn't all about the rod, craftsmanship and backing are as much a part of the purchase. St Croix is second to NONE for backing their product. Gloomis has lost sight of that these last few years!!!

I edited this message because I now realize that I "pushed" the limits of my comments towards a company. Chris, I read the policy and see where you are coming from.

So, with that said, I have not had any good expiriences with St. Croix rods and their customer service/warrenty policy. Because of that I will not purchase their products.

Falcom rods are great rods for the money. You will not regret it!

I have been using Falcon rods for walleyes for quite some time and have been real pleased with their sensativity and durabilty.
I would say you are real close that they do compare alot to a G-Loomis or St croix as I have both of these rods. I would give a thumbs up!!! to Falcon rods.

Big G, I really don't see how stating a fact can be considered bashing a company.

That's just like stating the truth about another company, that's HUGE, that I deal with on a daily basis at work, and calling it bashing.

Well, if what I tell customers about them is bashing, why is there so much negativity filed with the Better Business Bureau and why are there also class-action suits against this company I deal with?

It wouldn't be bashing to state the truth. It's just a fair warning to others.

Sorry, I have a lot of frustration built up dealing with this supplier of ours that also sells to the public.

Thanks for letting me vent.

On the positive side, if the so-called "bashing" is read by pro-staff of the company, maybe they'll take note and make some positive changes. grin.gif

I have a Falcon Lowrider that I use all the time. Have had it for 8 years or so and I like it a lot. Has more guides like a fly rod. I highly recommend the lowriders. Very durable, good guides, never a problem. Where are you seeing these rods? I am in the market for a new one.

I just broke my St. Croix Avid on a small bass the other day. I must have done something to weaken the rod at the spot that it broke. That rod carries a lifetime warranty. Mailed it in and got a letter back today stating it wasn't a defect and I need to send a $90 check to get a new one and I have 90 days to do it or they will dispose of it.

In the past St.Croix has been good to me on warranty issues but they seem to have changed their policy. I think I will give them a call and see what the story is.

Python, the bait shop in Madison Lake, just east of Mankato stocks them. I haven't looked too closely at any particular model, but I'm always keeping my eyes out for a good deal on a good rod.

Thanks for the feedback.

I am always looking for a good rod too. I really liked berkley lightning rods a few years back, good quality rods for a good price. Seems that they have been going downhill since they are now only $20. I am always sceptical of store brands since I broke a Cabela's rod on a bass in milfoil. But I have since bought a Cabela's high end rod and it is fantastic. Also Gander Mt baitcaster combo (father in law casted my other bait caster into the water) for cheap and it has held up well. Any metro stores carry falcon rods? wouldn't mind checking those out if they are reasonably priced.

Joes has falcons but they get picked through pretty fast. I have 8 of them and I have almost switched all my rods over the sensivity is great and they are very strong too. Just wish the wife would let me buy a couple more. I bass fish so I need one for every lure of course. I have half caras and other are lowriders. the are alittle less then the st croix from what I've seen. Christophersons bait in Alexandria has a great selection too.

I have all kinds of rods ranging from cheepos to gloomis, although the majority of my rods are now falcons. I love the sensativity of them and they are strong as nails. The price is also good. I just recieved a couple of the expert series baitcasting rods and man are they sweet.

Can anyone give me a price range on these Falcon rods? Im looking for a new rigging rod and like what I'm hearing about the durability and sensitivity of the Falcon rod. Now if the price fits my pocket book I may have found a new rod! smile.gif
