Spinner on your leader, more fish???

Just curious, does adding a spinner on your leader increase the amount of fish caught? Me and my buddy went out the other night, he caught 7 channels and i only got one. our lines were within a few feet from eachother and we were using the exact same bait. the only thing different was the fact that he had a spinner on his leader. just wondering if there is anything to that...thank you!

Try it again and see...could be a fluke, could be something to it. I never try to form an opinion with fewer than two or three trials, preferably more. That said, I personally am a fan of spinners. If the current is strong enough to spin them around it does a couple things, IMO. First and most obvious, it puts out more vibration which is a definite attractor for cats (and all fish). Second, and more hypothetical, a spinner displaces more water...pushes it out in a wider swath, which, in turn, disperses the scent of your bait further and farther out. If a cat is picking up on your buddy's bait/scent from farther away, he follows it to his line and not yours. Of course, the current will disperse scent of it's own accord, so the spinner assisting in this is just my theory.

Interesting thought that I hadn't considered. I could see merit in it.
