A slow month of june

Recommended Posts

Has it been a slow june for everyone or just me. Boated 9 so far with the biggest only in the upper 30s. i never seen it where only small fish are active. i cant even get a bigger musky (over 40in ) to follow. my thoughts are that the weather is to unstable and the water has been to cold for to long. we need warm weather. i also find the overcast day are not producing like they should and we have had lot of those types of day. please post your thoughts on this problem or please tell us about how good of yer your having and this may give us hope. Thanks

I agree also. All our luck down in the cities mainly tonka has been suspended fish trolling. We haven't moved much casting at all. Just got back from a weekend on vermilion also and didn't move a fish even on probably 20 hours of fishing. It's really slow up north from what I'm hearing probably due to really cold waters up there especially but also it was mayfly hatch, they were crazy and I know that shuts off walleye so I assume it effects muskie as well. It's suppose to be a warm week hopefully that helps.

I'm new to the musky game. This is the first year I've been serious about it. The wifes parents buying a place on a good musky lake will do that. In pretty limited time this weekend I moved a couple large fish. The only scale I have to judge by is they were seriously bigger than the 41.5 pike I caught a couple weeks ago. One was very aggressive on the figure 8 but didn't go. Both fish rose to small bucktails about 1130 am Friday and then again Saturday in bright sun. Needless to say seeing those fish has given me the confidence to go at it harder. I'll be at it again next weekend.

June isn't usually a great month for me any way, so with the one in the boat that I do have I'll be happy, it's a solid 43", thanks for the net job 50inchpig - BUT I know some very good sticks and it has been hard very hard some are still without a fish in the net yet. Like I heard another angler say I'll take a slow June/July is the rest is the year is off the charts, and it might just be.

I raised my first fish yesterday and boated one about 10 casts later (may have been the same fish). Mid 30's, but I'm on the board. Otherwise yes it has been pretty slow. For the rest of the boat before yesterday, we had one follow, one 20" in the boat, and one "maybe it was a muskie, maybe a pike" strike for about 7 outings.

For sure, only a sub 30" fish so far. RU - good thing you one with Marc, he's good guide.

Marc should be charging, thank god we're friends. LOL To be honest I think the mojo lies in "TuckerBrinks" - Tucker jumping in after that fish was hilarious, and he got'em back in the boat surprisingly fast.

Slow for me too, the first few follows finally came for me this past Friday, but contrary to everyone else it seems, I only have seen fish during overcast days, absolutely nothing in the sun shine. Best of luck to everyone.

I just say that because he got me on my first fish back in the day and this year everyone in his boat is getting fish besides him. The one day Brinks decided to chew on my knipex handle but I caught it in time. That would be funny watching them jump in after a fish though!

Lets hope! I was out this morning and it was beautiful with the weather. Fish were lazy still. All we have been able to do on tonka is suspended fish everything on the weeds are lazy still. I sure hope the heat fixes things. Water temps were still at 66 this morning at 6 and when i left the lake at noon the surface temp was 69 so if it stays a little warmer that would be good i would think

it's been a team game this year so far. that's what we say when fishing sucks, just like "it was a smaller fish but it sure was pretty."

i'm just building up good karma for later on this season. i expected some tough going so i've avoided most of the frustration so far. had some success in the boat doing things i've never tried before and that's been good too. a summer of low 70s water temps and metro fish will be jumping in the net. there is plenty of time.

as far as tuckerbrinks are concerned, they better get some of that mojo back quick or they'll end up at the pound!

I won't blame the fish or the weather cause its just way too easy. That said, all these cold fronts are killng me!! smile Honetly though, I've had the worst beginning of a fishing season in many many many yeears, bass and walleye included. Instead of trying to figure out where fish "should be" this time of the year I think for me, time on the water and maybe going the Windell route and just plain covering water would be a good idea. I caught myself checking back on spaots where I saw and caught fish last year rather than trying new spots this year. Clearly this old dog needs a new trick or I'll still be b1tching about the weather all year!!

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
