Flippin-pitchin

smalliehunter: I'm not with Ardent any longer, but still use both of my flip-n-pitch reels. What problems did you have? I've had no problems with either and I fish almost everyday. I did find when using any fluoro. over 20-pounds it was better to short spool the line. But with braid they work great.

Castaics are good, although some don't like the thumbar flipping switch - which isn't a switch really, just a different way of engaging the spool using the thumbar.

The Quantum Accurist is another reel with an actual flipping switch (reels with flipping switches are surprisingly hard to find, and I've never understood why...). I've used one on my pitching rod for several years and love it. Reliable, and relatively inexpensive.

I think cabelas has a signature model which is actually a shimano caenan that has a flipping switch. I just taught myself to flip left handed to avoid switching the rod. I bought 4 daiwa excelers this spring. So far they are absolutley amazing. Are the the best reel ever. no. They are however the best reel I've used under the 100 price point which what most my reels are.

I agree about the Diawa reels for under 100 they are great. I got one on a combo a a year ago or so and the rod broke, but that reel is real nice. Not as nice of a reel, but i use a abu black max. It has a flippin switch and inexpensive as a replacement until you get your nice one back. I think I got mine for $45 or so. Great for flippin and for the price until I can actually afford to upgrade it, I have found the abu is just fine for me.
