LCX 15 MT?

mabr

Question

I have a buddy who has 2 LCX 15s on his boat and one of his GPS modules has gone out on him. Price to replace it doesnt make a lot of sense because of age of the units 2002. So were wondering if anyone knows if you can share a module between the two units with a y cable of some sort. Any one know?

Or does anyone have an old gps module with the grey connectors they want to part with?

go to lowrance's web site and search for the diagram that shows you how to wire it, you'll also have to make a few changes in the menus of both units, pretty simple if you can find the directions.

I found one on a well known auction site that was priced reasonably (or at least I thought).

Otherwise, I think you can connect the GPS to one of the LCX 15's and then send postion information from that unit to the other one through the NMEA. I think you want to connect the blue wire (NMEA comm.2 output)from the output unit (GPS unit) to the orange wire (NMEA comm.1) from the receiving unit (non-GPS unit). Then I think you have to go to the menu and tell each respective communication port to operate at a baud rate of 9600 (essentially so they are speaking to each other). I would also double check the manual because there may be a ground that the units have to share.

Good luck.
