Tube JIgs?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone besides myself use tube jigs when fishing walleyes? Everybody thinks of those tube jigs as crappie jigs, wrong, I have had more success with tubes the past couple of years than I have had with twister tails. Red/white hard to beat. Early this spring my son caught his first big eye (28") on a 1/32 ounce crappie tube jig (red/white). Does any one know if they make these tube jigs in bigger sizes? And where can a person get them? Would appreciate any info or opinions on this. Thanks.

I agree that little tubes can produce big eye's. I fish them on the river in shallow rocky areas with with slack current. The light weight of a 1/32 tube jig makes it almost snag proof in the rocks. If you want a bigger bait, try tipping the tube with a crappie minnow. That's the way I always fish them. Besides the obvious scent factor, the minnow enhances the size of the bait without adding weight and actually makes the jig abit more bouant.

Fishing is Life.

Let's not neglect those bigger tubes.

When I get time, I'll put some pics in this topic for you.

The tubes comes in extra large size.

I use ELECTRIC blue ones that are salted for bass all the time.

This is the first time I've read about using the little guys on walleye, will have to give it a try for sure.

Thanks
