I might be weird, but I think a nice tarp/rain-fly setup at a campsite is cool. If you have a photo of some of your creations, post them here

No tarp pictures.. but I have a tarp story....

A couple years back I had gone to a music festival with my buddies that were playing at the festival.. well at our campsite.. one of the guys put up a tarp.. since there were no trees to keep us out of the sun.. later that night after tons of beer and whiskey one of the members loses it and starts screaming at the top of his lungs... and we're all like "dude shut the f' up!" and he goes "no body can hear me under my hooch!" "dude.. it's a f'in tarp! everyone can hear you!"...

lotta good memories from that weekend.. but that is the only tarp related one

Duffman, how do you like that food barrel? I've been thinking of getting one. Not so much for bear problems but the dang squirrels like to chew through my pack.

From what I can tell, 99% of the gear in the pic isn't mine, including the food barrel. Those guys packed stuff besides food in the barrel, and everytime they needed something out of it, they pretty much had to take most of stuff out to get what they wanted. It's great for critter and water protection, but after being on a few trips with those guys and the barrel, I decided a barrel wasn't for me. I don't know, it just seemed awkward to handle at times.
